HEALTHY CITY

HEALTHY CITY

(waiting my daughter at hospital before New Year 2012)

Healthy City, what does it mean? Does city as well as living creatures that can be detected on the health? What kind of a healthy city?Does terminology healthy city emerged from the health experts?

Definition of healthy cities in Indonesia come from the ministry of health because their concern the increasing unhealthy people. Of course the definition should not only physical, but also people who live in it and their relation with nature and other people.

Often infrastructruktur experts develop a physical criteria for healthy living of humans.
Ministry of Housing (ED Heripoerwanto, 2009) in the workshop on Minimum Service Standard of housing and Settlements (3 September 2009) to realize a healthy and safe environment mention sustainable human settlement needs to pay attention to four issues, such as to save the input of resources (land, water, energy, building materials) ; minimizing waste (solid, liquid, air pollution, noise, heat, gases); ensure fairness (intergenerational, inter-regional, social); ensure good decision-making (delegation and participation).

Mayor of Surabaya in her presentation of Eco2city in Bappenas showed a decrease in the number of sick people after related programs such as slum upgrading, maintenance of green open space, enhance of environmental quality related to sanitation and solid waste.
Data show that 88% of diarrheal disease is attributable to unsafe drinking water supply, Inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene. In Indonesia 1.5 million children Died Caused by diarrheal disease each year (WHO, 2008 in Margaret M. Sintorini, 2011). And many people also got from dengue fever disease (DB and DBD).

Healthy city is defined by the health ministry and emphasis on guidelines on the basis of the ability of people (communities) in improving health in their environment, in this community. The indicators associated with the indicator in the MDGs (Guidelines Implementation District/City Healthy ( Joint Regulation of the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Health No. 34 in 2005. No: 1138/Menkes/PB/VIII/2005, August 3, 2005)

In fact it was not enough, because there is a relation between man and nature, and people and people that reflect people healthy.

The number of cases of suicide, like jumping off buildings in urban areas, and drinking an insect repellent in the countryside, killing as irritability, etc.

But what definition of healthy city that is more adequate to what we hope? we hope that healthy city will lead to healthy people, more productive, less import on medicine/pharmacy, and finally more happiness people.

Eventhough this competition followed by limited cities, this is a good beginning.
Other cities can learn from those cities to make a better city and a better process to deal with community.

ETHNOMETODOLOGY

ONE DAY IN YOUR LIFE
This title is the same as a song that singing by Michael Jackson.
I want write this on the day his died and one week after I accompanied my husband on his graduation on the place that remind me on similar place that I ever came
.

When you come to one place in city, sometimes you feel that your ever come on that place. Something that you feel familiar, the spaces, the trees, the buildings, and every elements that you encounter on that place.

Dejavu .......

Why do you feel like this? Probably because that areas have the same design, 'copycat', with the areas on the other place in the other country. When you come on that place, you are not feel strange and so you can easily adapted.

How do you think? Is it good? Some people say it's OK, but some people it's not. It's OK, as long as make the place better. No, because there is no unique place. Every cities have the same face. That make you don't know where you are now.

Do you think we need ethnometodology and ethnography to design and plan a place?
